Links to the Past
Three years ago I really got hooked on email. After sending a Christmas card with my email many friends started letter writing via email. Encouraged by this new communication I started doing web searches on persons who I hadn?t talked to in years, usually finding a phone number or an email. Email became a chain to my past, reconnecting links that had been broken for years. Email and the web can connect us in other ways. This interesting article from the Milwaukee journal gives a clear picture of computer technology connecting senior citizens with a common craft.

Senior Citizen at Age 42
When do you realize that you are a senior citizen? For me it was October 25, 1996 and I was 42 years old. It was the day my mother died and I was parent less. While people from my past were complimenting me on how young I looked my spirit was aging quickly. It was the realization that a generation had passed and now my three siblings and I were the seniors. To this day I still think of mom and how she was always there to answer my questions and give advice.

Letting the Gray Take Over
Every eight weeks I visit my beautician. She touches up my dark roots with golden blond, the color of my youth. Like most natural blondes my hair faded in my teens and 20's to a dull dishwater blonde. In my 30's a friend of mine recommended I lighten my hair to brighten my face. For 20 years I followed her advice. Now as I tire of the routine, I realize I need to cover the gray too. My boyfriend, who is 55, is also graying. With his thick dark hair he doesn't look older. He actually appears quite distiguished. A colleague at work has let the gray take over her dark blonde hair and it doesn't look bad. It hasn't made her look older either. Before I make my decision maybe I will try this gray hair experiment

Turning 50
Mood:  quizzical
I turned 50 on August 3, 2004. The thought of having a colonoscopy has turned my stomach since that time. Today I made the phone call to my family doctor to schedule this most unpleasant test. A TV commericial of older people cheering each other on while dressed in hospital gowns was the impetus for the call. Unlike the rites of passage of youth, being able to drive or being able to vote, this rite of passage is easy to avoid. Here are some resources on my "timely" topic Information On Preventing Colon Cancer. On a more personal note read One Family's Story About Colon Cancer
